Programme was organized on the 30th July 2016 to make the farmers aware about Geographical Indication of “Malihabadi Dusseheri” to generate entrepreneurship amongst the farming community through constituting a registered society. About 25 mango growers/ farmers from Kasmandi Kalam, Mohammadnagar Talukedari, Sarsanda, Goparamau, Unnao and other parts of Lucknow participated. Dr. S Rajan, Director, ICAR-CISH motivated the farmers to develop and register a trademark of the registered society. Ms. Poonam Jayant Singh, IPR Expert from ICAR-NBFGR, Lucknow elaborated about GI and its uses in different country and exhorted the participants to make use of GI in mango season for promotion of eco/agri-horti tourism. Dr. Neelima Garg, Head, Post Harvest Management, ICAR-CISH, Lucknow highlighted the benefit accrual pertaining to minimizing the post harvest losses coupled with the availability of umpteen number of GI mango products.
